HORSE BEING CRUSHED BY SNAKE

The horse is after the French bronze of Napolean's horse, Marengo.
The subject reflects the struggle of nature. Belleek introduced the piece in the 1880s, and re-introduced it in 1973-4, when a few pieces were made.
The piece was also made in parian by William Adams & Co. in 1860.

SHAKESPEARE & THE CAVALIER

Bearded, belted and spurred, complete with hat, cloak, gauntlets ans pistol. Clearly depicts the Royalist costume during the reign of Charles I. The Cavalier's companion is the Roundhead, showing the Puritan costume during the same period. A very rare figure which was only in production for a short time.
