Jugs

The large parian jugs made by Belleek were purely decorative in function. The Aberdeen Jug when encrusted with applied flowers is among the most ornate. Coming in three sizes and left or right-handed, a complete set of six of these jugs is very difficult to obtain but very attractive when achieved. the later Aberdeen Jugs are also available coloured.

The Florence Jug comes in four sizes and is one of the most beautiful jugs Belleek makes. The early jugs are particularly fine and are often decorated with pink, turquoise and gilded. The Shell Jug, although rare, is somewhat ungainly. Together with its sugar, also a shell on coral, it depicts a conch shell but is quite impractical.

At the other end of the scale are the little cream jugs with their matching sugar basins. The retail price in the 1870s for these jugs and their sugar basins were from 1/- to 1/6. The range of jugs was quite extensive and available plain, gilded, coloured or both. Some of the jugs were crested.
